How Payment Works

No hidden fees. No surprise markups. No wondering how much of your money actually reaches the person guiding you.

For travellers

1

Reserve with Full Price

When you book, you pay 100% of the total price to secure your spot. With this, you're confirmed, and your guide knows to expect you.

2

Meet your guide

You'll have your guide's direct contact before you travel. Ask them about weather, what to bring, or anything else — you're talking to the person who'll actually be leading your trip, not a call centre.

3

AFRICONNECT sends 70% after the experience

48 hours after the end of your activity, unless any concerns have been raised by you or your guide, we send the remaining 70% to the business.

What's included in the price you see

The price on every listing is the full price of the experience. There are no booking fees, service charges, or platform fees added at checkout.

What each listing includes — equipment, transport, park fees, meals — is stated on the listing itself. If something isn't included, we say so before you book, not after.

Cancellations

How you pay

To make a booking, you will pay the total price of the activity. We immediately send 30% as a deposit to the business, and keep the remaining 70% until after confirmation that the activity has gone as planned. Payments are made through Paystack on our platform.

For operators

If you're a guide or tour operator, here's exactly what listing on AFRICONNECT costs you.

Listing is free. Always.

No setup fee. No monthly fee. No cost to create a listing, update it, add photos, or add new experiences. If you never receive a booking, you never pay us anything.

You keep the majority, and you get it immediately

When a traveler books an activity, you receive 30% of the booking value immediately, as a deposit. After confirmation that the activity has gone as planned, we send the remaining 70% of your payment to the same account through which you received the 30% deposit.

Our commission

We take a commission only when you actually receive a booking. It's deducted from the traveller's payment — never from the payment you receive in person.

20% commission

We publish this because most platforms don't. Large international booking sites commonly take 20–30%, often layered on top of a local ground handler's cut, so the guide running the trip can end up with well under half of what the traveller paid. You should know our number before you list, not after.

What we ask from you

Accurate prices, honest descriptions, and showing up for your clients. We verify every operator before their listing goes live, because the trust travellers place in us is what makes bookings possible for all of you.

Want to list your experiences?

It's free, and it takes about fifteen minutes.

Frequently asked questions

Is my 30% deposit refundable?
This depends on the reason of the refund demand. Please refer to our cancellation and refund policies to see case-by-case scenarios.
What if my guide doesn't show up?
This has not happened, and we work hard to keep it that way — every operator is individually verified before listing. If it ever did, contact us immediately and we will refund your deposit in full and help you find an alternative.
Do I need to bring cash for the 70%?
No, by booking the activity, you've payed 100%, and we send the remaining 70% to the business.
What currency are prices in?
United States Dollars
Can I contact my guide before I book?
Yes. Every listing has a direct contact route to the operator. We encourage you to ask questions before booking — the guides on our platform would rather answer them upfront than have you arrive unprepared.
Why is AFRICONNECT cheaper than other booking sites?
Because there are fewer people taking a cut. When you book a local activity through a large international platform or a hotel tour desk, your payment often passes through two or three intermediaries before reaching the guide. We remove those layers, which means a lower price for you and more money for the person running your trip.
